Facebook turned down WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton for job in 2009

Life is funny sometimes, and so is the process of making it in the tech world. Tweets from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton in 2009 show that Facebook and Twitter turned him down for jobs.

Ya know, years before he and partner Jan Koum would sell WhatsApp for billions to Facebook.

The Facebook and WhatsApp app icons are displayed on an iPhone.

Now it appears that Facebook's decision proved to be an expensive one for Mark Zuckerberg.

WhatsApp allows users to send and receive free SMS and MMS text messages on smartphones, without ads. The app itself is free to download and use for a year. After that, What's App charges 99 cents yearly.
