ORLANDO – Ray Davis is making a rather unique relief appearance.
Davis was approved as the "control person" of the Texas Rangers on Thursday at the quarterly owners' meetings at the J.W. Marriott Grande Lakes.
Davis, the team's chief executive officer and co-chairman, is replacing Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, who resigned as CEO last month. Davis has over 30 years of experience in the energy business.
"I have an enormous amount of respect for Nolan Ryan but he has decided to resign and I'm sure Ray Davis will do a great job as his successor," Commissioner Bud Selig said.
