For new artists, Lorde ruled 2013. How about 2014?

Shazam releases its Artists to Watch list, which points to Lucy Hale and Action Bronson, to name a couple. Considering that 400 million people use the music-tagging service globally (the app "tags" a song every time users hold up a tablet or smartphone to figure out what they're listening to), Shazam-ers could be right.

We'll revisit in 2015.

For now, here are next year's hopefuls.

Action Bronson: A rapper from Queens who calls Wu-Tang Clan a big influence.

August Alsina: His single I Luv ThisS--- has been one of the most Shazamed rap tracks of 2013.

Banks: Born Jillian Banks, she's a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles.

Jhené Aiko: Has collaborated with Drake and Big Sean.

Kid Ink: Rapper who was listed in XXL Magazine's "2012 Freshman Class" feature alongside Macklemore.

Lucy Hale: The aspiring country singer is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery on ABC's Pretty Little Liars.

Martin Garrix: Dutch DJ best known for his track Animals.

Rich Homie Quan:The New York Times calls him one of "Atlanta's rising generation of rappers."

Vance Joy: The Australian singer has a hit single, Riptide, back home.
