SEATTLE (AP) — Clint Dempsey finally got on the board in his ninth game back in Major League Soccer, scoring in the 30th minute to give the Seattle Sounders the lead, and Robbie Keane's half-volley goal late in the second half gave the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-1 draw in the MLS regular-season finale on Sunday night.

Dempsey's goal off a cross from Lamar Neagle gave Seattle a chance at finishing third in the MLS Western Conference standings, but Keane's goal in the 78th minute changed the entire playoff picture. Keane scored after a scramble in the penalty box, one-hopping a shot past Seattle goalkeeper Michael Gspurning.

Keane's goal gave the Galaxy third place in the final standings. Los Angeles will face Real Salt Lake in the two-leg conference semifinals. Seattle will now host Colorado in the play-in round on Wednesday, with the winner getting Western Conference regular-season champion Portland in the conference semifinals.

Garcia, Barnes lead Dynamo past United, 2-1

WASHINGTON (AP) — Boniek Garcia and Giles Barnes scored in the first half and the Houston Dynamo beat D.C. United 2-1 on Sunday to wrap up a playoff spot for the third straight season.

D.C. United (3-24-7) was winless in its final 12 games and set the MLS record for fewest victories in a season, breaking the previous mark of four set by Tampa Bay in 2001 and matched by Chivas USA in 2005.

Garcia scored his third goal of the season, converting a penalty kick in the 11th minute. Houston (14-11-9) earned the spot kick after defender James Riley pulled down Giles Barnes inside the box.

United tied it in the 27th minute when Kyle Porter headed home Chris Pontius' cross at the far post right. It was Porter's third goal of the season, tying him for the team high.

Houston pulled ahead in the 39th minute when Barnes flicked home a header on a corner kick. Barnes finished the season with a team-high nine goals.

Sanvezzo leads Vancouver past Colorado 3-0

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Camilo Sanvezzo scored three times to give him an MLS-best 22 goals, and the Vancouver Whitecaps closed out their season with a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday night.

The Brazilian forward stepped up to the penalty spot in the 43rd minute after Kekuta Manneh was brought down in the area and blasted a shot past Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin.

He then danced around a Rapids defender in the 74th minute to tie Mike Magee of the Chicago Fire for the MLS lead in goals with 21. That strike gave Sanvezzo the league's Golden Boot award because he has more assists than Magee.

New England beats Columbus to earn postseason spot

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Juan Agudelo scored midway through the first half and the New England Revolution beat the Columbus Crew 1-0 on Sunday to qualify for the postseason for the first time since 2009.

The Revolution (14-11-9) needed to win their regular-season finale because Houston defeated D.C. United earlier in the day to also reach 51 points. New England moved from sixth in the Eastern Conference, one spot out of the playoffs, to third because it owns the tiebreaker against Houston.

Agudelo completed a crafty give-and-go with Lee Nguyen on the right side of the box and put away his ninth goal from 12 yards in the 28th minute.

The Crew (12-17-5) dropped their second straight game.
