Leslie Robinson, whose uncle is President Obama, received a threat before Monday's NCAA tournament game in College Park, Md.

COLLEGE PARK, MD. -- Security was increased at Monday night's Princeton-Maryland NCAA tournament women's basketball game after a phone message was received detailing a threat against President Obama's niece, according to a person with knowledge of the threat who was not authorized to speak publicly because of security issues.

An eight-minute voicemail was received at the University of Maryland police department offices this afternoon in which a woman said a man was driving on campus with a Glock handgun in his possession, the person said.

The caller linked the man's appearance on campus to tonight's game and Leslie Robinson, the daughter of Craig Robinson, Michelle Obama's brother, who is a freshman forward at Princeton. She was not told of the threat, the person said, but Princeton coach Courtney Banghart was aware of it.

In addition to normal game security, undercover security officers were near the Princeton bench, the person said. Secret Service officers also were in the arena due to the presence of Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

President Obama attended Saturday's first-round game between Princeton and Wisconsin-Green Bay but was not at tonight's game.

"Leslie's safe. She's in my locker room. No one loves her like I do," Banghart said Monday. "And she's an important part of our team, so keep the freaks out of the gym."
