Melissa Bachman poses by the lion she shot and killed in South Africa.

It's the shot seen around the world. A photo of Melissa Bachman posed near a lion she claims she shot and killed has sparked a Change.org petition calling for her to be banned from South Africa.

Bachman stars in a hunting TV show called Winchester's Deadly Passion. Her social accounts are filled with pictures of her kills – alligators, zebras, deer and more. The show follows her on hunts across the world.

But this one photo with her next to a male lion she killed in Africa has received a lot of attention. Bachnman, a Minnesota native, posted the photo on Facebook and her website – www.melissabachman.com.

A Change.org petition asking for her to be prevented entry to South Africa reached 100,000 signatures Monday. The letter says that she is an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation South Africa prides itself on.

The lion is not an endangered species, but scientists say they are vulnerable — and some worry they could be in their last decades of existence.
