The Dodgers have the Cardinals right where they want them, according to history

After winning Game 4 of the NLCS to take a 3-1 series lead, it looked all but certain that the Cardinals would close out the Dodgers and move on to the World Series. But with a win in Game 5, the Dodgers have momentum and history on their side.

The Cardinals have been in this situation before and they’ve never been able to close the series. St. Louis has taken a three-games-to-one lead in the NLCS on three occasions (1996, 2012 and 2013) and they’ve gone 0-7 in games after that. In those 7 games, the Cardinals have been outscored by a combined 58-6.

The Cardinals will host the Dodgers in Game 6 of the NLCS tonight.
