Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert headline All-Star reserves

• NBA All-Star Game reserves announced including three centers after none were selected as starters

When the starting lineups for the 2014 NBA All-Star game were announced last Thursday, no centers made the cut.

But two of the most high-profile big men in the NBA headlined the reserves, which were announced on Thursday. Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard made the cut in the Western Conference, while Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert got there in the Eastern Conference.

While the starting lineups were determined by fan voting, reserves were selected by coaches in each conference, who were not allowed to vote for players on their own teams.

Rounding out the Western Conference roster were San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, Rockets shooting guard James Harden, Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul.

Joining Hibbert in the East were Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh, Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah, Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap and Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan.

The February 16 All-Star game in New Orleans will mark the first career selections for Lillard, Cousins, Wall, Millsap and DeRozan. Noah and Harden are making their second consecutive All-Star appearances, while Aldridge is making his third.

The Western Conference starting lineup, announced last week, features Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, Clippers forward Blake Griffin and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love.

The Eastern Conference starters include Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade and forward LeBron James, Indiana Pacers forward Paul George and New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.

The NBA will name a replacement for Bryant, who is ruled out for the game because of a knee injury.
