Since the arrival of Chris Paul in 2011, the Los Angeles Clippers have become better known by a new nickname: Lob City. In Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, Paul has two targets willing and able to receive his alley-oop passes.

NBA.com’s stats site broke down alley-oop dunks team-by-team over the last two seasons, and the results weren’t that surprising.

It makes sense that the tandem of Paul and either Griffin or Jordan would lead the way. It’s also no surprise that the Denver Nuggets were the number-two team. Andre Miller loves to throw lobs, and nobody can jump higher for them than JaVale McGee.

The San Antonio Spurs ranked dead last with five alley-oops over the last two years. This also makes perfect sense. Outside of Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs’ devastatingly effective offense is build more on shooting and execution than dazzling athleticism.

With new coach Doc Rivers in tow, the Clippers are saying Lob City is dead. But that probably won’t be the case.
