Is Hollywood hypersexed? Your Say

A USA TODAY article Friday examined whether hypersexed celebrity is the new norm in Hollywood. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

I don't think celebrities such as Rihanna, Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears are really hypersexed. I think most Americans are hypersensitive to sex. Every generation has its rebels. Like it or not, these women are their generations' rebels.

Scarlett Johansson appears on the cover of Esquire's November issue.

Many people say they are offended at seeing more of these entertainers than they are comfortable with seeing.

What about all the violence on TV and in movies? I sometimes think Americans would rather see people getting shot or blown up, than see nudity or sex.

Hypersexed is just a synonym for undertalented.

The worst thing that can happen is when a culture becomes numb. We are becoming numb to degrading sex and violence. I am not a prude. I love intimacy and sex. I don't find gratuitous displays of sex and violence to be arousing or enticing. They are just vulgar.

I still find fascinating that we constantly are examining women's behavior and ignoring men's sexual behavior. Singer Robin Thicke is still escaping examination for his blatant, unneeded use of topless women in his music video.

Once again, cases such as this one prove that the patriarchal eyes of society are blind to men using women as sexual objects.

Hollywood is selling sex to sustain fame

and celebrity status. Is that really shocking? Actors want as much time as possible to earn big bucks because tomorrow guarantees none ("The new norm in Hollywood? Hypersexed")?

Our modern sex symbols such as Rihanna, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé, Paris Hilton, Scarlett Johansson and others mutually help themselves, the celebrity business and the mass media to make mega-bucks. These fabulous femmes help drive our modern economy. Many are dependent upon their brands, or endorsed corporate brands. It's a woman's world.
