Former NHL tough guy Andre Deveaux took a wicked two-handed swing to the back of the leg of a Swedish player during pre-game warmups last week.

Monday, he was cut by his Swedish team, Rogle.

The video of Thursday’s incident began making rounds on Sunday. Deveaux skated up behind Vasteras defenseman and captain Per Helmersson, slashed him, shoved him to the ice and punched him. Swedish reports said Helmersson had leveled Deveaux in a previous game.

Rogle put out a statement Monday calling Deveaux’s actions “indefensible” and saying they were parting ways.

“We have talked to Andre today about the incident and jointly decided to go (our) separate ways,” team chairman Hakan Eriksson said.

Deveaux had nine points and 67 penalty minutes in 20 games with Rogle. He had 104 penalty minutes in 31 NHL games between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers and also played in the American Hockey League, ECHL and Kontinental Hockey League.
