Praise! 'Hamilton' creator Lin Manuel Miranda wrote music for 'Star Wars'
The world is wide enough for both Hamilton and Star Wars it seems.
Two of the biggest pop culture sensations of the year have come together because, truly, the world is a magical, wonderful, beautiful place. J.J. Abrams revealed on The Tonight Show Monday night that Lin Manuel Miranda, star and creator of Hamilton and certified genius, wrote music for The Force Awakens' "version" of the Cantina Band.
Here's what went down in the room where it happened: Miranda and Abrams connected when Abrams saw Hamilton earlier this year (so jealous), and Miranda jokingly said he would write some music for the film. It turned out that Abrams needed some more music, because famed composer John Williams (who scored the original films) had decided not to write music for a particular scene. You can watch Abrams tell the story below, which blew the minds of Miranda's Hamilton mixtape collaborators (and Roots band members) Questlove and Black Thought:
How lucky we are to be alive right now. Seriously.
