Joe Perry disses Steven Tyler's move to country music

Steven Tyler shouldn't really ask Joe Perry his opinion on the country album.

Aerosmith lead guitarist and rock legend Joe Perry is not buying into his longtime bandmate Steven Tyler's move to country.

Tyler dropped his patriotic single "Red, White & You." last month ahead of his full country album and Perry was chilly in his reception.

"Hey, if I didn't know him when I heard the song I'd go, 'It's okay, next.' " Perry tells USA TODAY. "I'm not going to say anything else about that."

But it's also the whole country thing for the heavy-rocking Aerosmith frontman which is clearly rankling Perry.

Perry adds:

"Steven is in Nashville doing whatever he's doing. He's got a (bleeping) rhinestone cowboy hat going 'Yippee ki yay.' I don't know what else to say about that."

Johnny Depp vows to explode heads at Grammys with Hollywood Vampires

Perry has got his own new projects going, including appearing on Monday night at the Grammy Awards with superband The Hollywood Vampires — consisting of Johnny Depp and rocker Alice Cooper. The band will perform their single "As Bad As I Am" along with a tribute to Motorhead lead singer, Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, who died in December.

Musicians Alice Cooper, Matt Sorum, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry of the Hollywood Vampires rehearse for the 58th Grammy Awards.

Perry says:

"I don't say things like this often, but this band is (bleeping) good. It's time to put on the skates and walk out on the pond."

Further, the band is playing straight-ahead, head-exploding rock, which Perry laments is becoming a rare sight at the Grammys.

"That's why they want us there, they want us to represent. And this (show) is the top of the pile. Americans have never seen us. We're going to do the best that we can."
