Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal wants Les Miles to stay as LSU coach
Les Miles has at least one high-profile supporter in Louisiana: Gov. Bobby Jindal.
In the midst of rampant speculation that Saturday might be Miles' final game as LSU's head coach — the Tigers face Texas A&M — Jindal tweeted strong words of support for the embattled coach.
Jindal called Miles a "fantastic ambassador for our state" and expressed wishes that Miles keeps his job.
Athletics director Joe Alleva has not made any public comments of support, nor any comments at all about Miles’ job status. On Friday, reports surfaced that Miles told a booster group that Saturday would be his final game.
On Saturday morning, LSU Board of Supervisors member Stanley Jacobs said there has been no recommendation made to the board about Miles.
"He is our coach, and I wish him well,” Jacobs said.
The board of supervisors, incidentally, is appointed by the governor.
