Sidney Crosby has now scored against all 29 NHL opponents

Ten years into his career as one of the most prolific players to ever suit up in the NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby finally netted a goal against the only opponent that had always shut him down — the St. Louis Blues.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ian Cole (28) and right wing Patric Hornqvist (72) celebrate a goal by center Sidney Crosby (R) against the St. Louis Blues during the first period at the CONSOL Energy Center.

With more than 300 goals to his name since 2005, Crosby had never managed to find mesh vs. the Blues in 10 previous career contests. In true Crosby form, he made the milestone marker a good one, rocketing a loose puck past Jake Allen with absolute authority.

Crosby went on to add another score on the power play in the second period to give his team a 2-1 lead.

The Pens' captain has been under intense scrutiny all season for his low point totals (going into Wednesday's game he had tallied three goals and eight assists) and was the subject of rumors earlier in the day that he and Pens' owner Mario Lemeiux were in the midst of a "rift." So if there was ever a night for him to break out on the score sheet, Wednesday was certainly it.
