Actress Anne Meara, mom of Ben Stiller, dies at 85

Actress and comedian Anne Meara died on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

Meara, 85, rose to fame in the 1960s while performing comedy routines with Jerry Stiller under the stage name Stiller & Meara. She went on to star in TV and film, including roles on All My Children,The King of Queens and the TV series Sex and the City.

Her husband, Jerry Stiller, and son, Ben Stiller, confirmed to AP that Meara passed away over the weekend but did not provide additional details.

The Stiller family described Jerry Stiller as Meara's "husband and partner in life," according to a statement provided to the Associated Press.

According to the statement, Stiller and Meara were married for 61 years and "worked together almost as long."

Meara is survived by Ben and Jerry Stiller, her daughter, Amy, and several grandchildren, AP reported.
