Johnny Manziel's turn again? Browns QB Josh McCown out for season

Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown is out for the season with a fractured collarbone he sustained in Monday night’s stunning 33-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

But it's still unclear whether Johnny Manziel will once again take the reins to the Browns offense.

McCown suffered the injury in the third quarter and, while he returned for a series in the fourth quarter, it was backup Austin Davis who led the Browns’ comeback and a shot at a game-winning field goal. The Ravens blocked that kick and returned it for a touchdown as time expired.

McCown already missed four games this season with concussion, shoulder and rib injuries. The prior injury allowed Manziel to take over the starting role, a job that was yanked last week after footage surfaced of Manziel partying in Texas during the bye week.

Manziel was demoted to third string, behind Davis, who was signed earlier this season after he was cut by the St. Louis Rams. Davis was 7-of-10 passing with 77 yards. He completed six consecutive passes – including a 42-yard TD pass to Travis Benjamin with 1:47 left in regulation --- on the Browns’ game-tying drive.

Pettine said he would not have a decision Tuesday but would consider whether sitting Manziel on Monday was sufficient punishment.
