BEVERLY HILLS - Does it get much odder than this?

Simply described, Gigi Does It isn't that strange: It's an IFC series coming this October about the comic adventures of a 76-year-old, suddenly rich Boca Raton widow. The twist is that Gigi is played by Numb3rs star David Krumholtz —who plays this old, Jewish woman in heavy makeup and drag.

"It takes me four and a half hours," Krumholtz said at the Television Critics Association press tour. "It's a pretty lengthy and complicated process…Portions of our show are reality based, so I really have to convince people that I'm her."

Though the idea for the character came from co-star and co-producer Ricky Mabe, Krumholtz plays her as a homage to his grandmother. "My grandmother passed away too young, and she would make Gigi blush. She was very spirited…When the makeup was finished and they put the wig on, what surprised me was I looked a lot like her. It was like she was back…I cried a little."
