Feeling down? You might want to move to Denmark.

The country was ranked the happiest in the world, according to the most recent World Happiness Report released ahead of the United Nations World Happiness Day, which falls on March 20th.

Denmark was closely followed by Switzerland, Iceland and Norway. The U.S. nabbed the 13th spot, while Canada claimed the sixth spot for overall happiness, according to the report by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

The report by global researchers was released on Wednesday in Rome.

"Measuring self-reported happiness and achieving well-being should be on every nation's agenda as they begin to pursue the Sustainable Development Goals," Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University said in a statement.

The lowest ranking countries were Benin, Afghanistan, Togo, Syria and Burundi.

The fourth annual report was based on surveys conducted in 156 countries. Seven factors were examined to measure happiness including a healthy life expectancy, having someone to count on, perceived freedom to make life choices, freedom from corruption, generosity and higher gross domestic product per capita.
