GM creates two editions of Colorado pickup
General Motors has created two dressed-up editions of its midsize Chevrolet Colorado pickup, one of the hits in its truck lineup. One is aimed at city dwellers and the other for the dirt-road country crowd.
"These are aggressive editions of one of the country's hottest-selling truck, demonstrating the personalization that's possible with Chevrolet accessories, whether it's for the street, trail or both," said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager, in a statement.
For the city, Chevy is rolling out the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado's Midnight Edition True to its name, it comes in one color: black. Everything about it is in black, in keeping with a trend that other makers, especially Fiat Chrysler's Ram, have embraced.
The truck has 18-inch aluminum wheels, spray-on bedliner and a folding bedliner.
The Colorado Midnight Edition is available on LT models with the extended and crew cab bodies, with either the 2.5-liter or 3.6-liter engine.
For off-roaders, Chevy has the Colorado Z71 Trail Boss.
It not only has the Z71 off-road truck suspension package, but also more aggressive tires and "off-road-inspired appearance enhancements," the automaker says. They include LED trail lighting, black-finished 17-inch aluminum wheels Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec® 265/65R17 all-terrain tires, fender flares and tubular assist steps.
No pricing yet on either truck, both due in the fall.
