In case you'd forgotten about Simple Minds, the Billboard Music Awards are here to give you a reminder.

The Scottish alt-pop band will perform '80s hit Don't You (Forget About Me) at the splashy awards show May 17 (ABC, 8 p.m. ET/PT), coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the song reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Made famous by John Hughes' 1985 coming-of-age classic The Breakfast Club, Don't You will be introduced by the film's star, Molly Ringwald, at the annual event. (Ringwald later recorded her own version of the song, included on her 2013 album Except Sometimes.)

Led by singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill, Simple Minds scored other Hot 100 singles such as Alive and Kicking, Sanctify Yourself and All the Things She Said in the late '80s. They released their sixteenth album Big Music last year.

Joining Simple Minds on the Billboard stage are previously announced musical performers Sam Smith, Hozier, Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheeran, Mariah Carey, and Van Halen. Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa, Little Big Town and Faith Hill, and Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea are among the other artists teaming up for duets.

Taylor Swift and Sam Smith lead the Billboard nominations with more than a dozen each, including top artist, Billboard 200 artist and Hot 100 artist. Azalea, John Legend, Meghan Trainor, Ariana Grande and Pharrell Williams are among the other multiple nominees.
