Feathers, fringe, lace grace Jason Wu collection at New York Fashion Week
Brace yourself for fall with feathered gowns, embroidered puffer coats and plaid pairings in neutral colors from "Immaculate," Jason Wu's fall/winter collection.
Models strutted down the runway at Spring Studios on Friday in a mix of soft, feminine dresses and menswear-inspired pants and jackets, natural light filtering in through a wall of floor-length windows. Minimalist yet modern pieces in grey, navy and black, with pops of yellow and red, dotted the runway. Ostrich feathers rustled in the breeze, creating movement, paired with wavy locks and velvet heels. Wu -- who rose to fame when he designed Michelle Obama's inaugural gowns -- juxtaposed fabrics, pairing a navy wool top with a delicate black lace skirt.
Boxy plaid pieces in black and white, navy and deep yellow, accented flowing floral numbers in navy, red and pale purple. Wu paired the simple designs with low heels in neutral colors and patterns.
Clumpy spider lashes accented the models’ fresh, dewy skin, invoking a wide-eyed vigor.
A vibrant yellow strapless gown and a tomato-red coat added splashes of color. One model wore a floral navy number accented with sprigs of pink and yellow and another strutted in a blush pink strapless gown festooned with ostrich feathers.
Jennifer Hudson, Diane Kruger and Jaime King sat front row at the show.
