DeMarco Murray not happy with role in Eagles' offense

DeMarco Murray #29 of the Philadelphia Eagles jogs off the field following the Eagles 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins at FedExField on October 4, 2015 in Landover, Maryland.

There's plenty of angst in Philadelphia after the Eagles' 1-3 start.

But running back DeMarco Murray, expected to be the centerpiece of the team's offense after signing as a free agent from the Dallas Cowboys, is an unlikely source of some of the unrest.

Murray said he was not satisfied with his involvement in the offense after the Eagles' 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

“No, I’m not. I don’t think I am,” Murray said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, when asked if he’s getting enough touches. "But it’s how the plays are being called. I love this offense, I love playing with these guys. It’s how it is.”

Murray clarified that he understood fellow running backs Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles would have significant roles within the offense. But the reigning rushing champion said he expected more carries.

Murray had 10 total touches for 48 yards against the Redskins. Through four games, he has just 29 carries for 47 yards. Matthews has 33 carries, while Sproles has figured prominently in the passing game.

But the issue was not one Murray said he would approach Chip Kelly and the coaching staff about.

“I don’t need to go to anyone. It is what it is," Murray said. "I think we’ll all watch film and get better."
