The first Apple Store in Brazil is shown to the media before its official February 2014 in a Rio de Janeiro mall.

Apple reportedly plans to discontinue sales of its iPhone 5c once it reveals its latest smartphones during an event in San Francisco next month.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is working on a smartphone with a 4-inch screen, but has no plans to reveal it soon. Last year, Apple introduced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which boast screen sizes of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively. Its predecessor, the iPhone 5s, featured a 4-inch display.

The report cites older features such as a slower processor and underwhelming sales as Apple's reason for dropping the 5c from its lineup.

On September 9, Apple will host an event where it is widely expected they will unveil its latest iPhone. The company is also reportedly planning to introduce an upgraded version of the Apple TV set-top box.
