People are paying hundreds of dollars for a chance to see the Warriors make history

A ticket to see the Golden State Warriors’ attempt at history will cost a memorable amount from your pocket.

According to two secondary ticket marketplaces, the price for entry at the Warriors-Lakers game is one of the most expensive regular season games for both teams in years.

“The aspects of being the first home game against the Lakers this season, it’s a bobblehead night and now there’s a chance to witness history, have created a perfect storm in terms of demand,” said StubHub spokesperson Cameron Papp.

On Monday afternoon on StubHub, the average ticket price sold was around $321. “This game has already outsold opening night this season and is comparable to the first and second round of the playoffs last year for the Warriors – the average price for those home games at Oracle were going anywhere from $200 – $325 on StubHub,” Papp added.

Even with their dismal record, Lakers games tend to sell well on StubHub, according to Papp. But tickets didn’t start getting really pricey until the Warriors beat the Nuggets on Sunday to tie the record for the best start to the season and set them up for a chance to make a new record. If Golden State beats the Lakers, the defending champions will become the first team to start the season 16-0. “As late as last week, you could still purchase a ticket for this game on StubHub for as little as $110,” Papp said. “Even last Sunday, a few buyers scored tickets for as low as $160.”

At TiqIQ, the average asking price as of this afternoon was $773 for a ticket, which is the second most expensive regular season game for the Lakers since 2010 and the most expensive for the Warriors since the same year. Unsurprisingly, it’s the most expensive regular season game for both teams this season.

In a similar fashion to StubHub, on TiqIQ prices for tonight’s game have increased 230% in the last 4 days.
