Crystal Cruises will send both of its ships on epic world cruises in 2018 -- a first for the line.

The luxury operator says the Crystal Symphony will kick off a 114-day voyage from Cape Town, South Africa to Miami on Jan. 7, 2018. Slightly more than two weeks later, on Jan. 23, 2018, the Crystal Serenity will set off on a 112-day voyage from Los Angeles to Rome.

The Symphony sailing will cover much of the Southern Hemisphere including stops in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, South America and the Caribbean. The voyage will include six maiden calls for the line: Geraldton, Bunbury, and Esperance Australia; Burnie, Tasmania; Fakarava, French Polynesia; and Robinson Crusoe Island, Chile. It ends April 30, 2018.

The Serenity sailing will feature stops in the South Pacific, Australia, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, India, Dubai and the Mediterranean. The journey includes maiden calls in Manila, Philippines and Mumbai, India. The trip ends on May 16, 2018.

The two ships will meet in Sydney, Australia on Feb. 17, 2018, and passengers will have the option of switching between the two vessels at that point, creating two more possible world itineraries. A gala celebration for world sailing passengers on both ships is planned for the Sydney stop.

Shorter segments of the world cruises also are being sold.

Fares for the full world cruises start at $47,150 per person, including a $2,000 per person shipboard credit, private transfers and other perks. Members of Crystal's loyalty program get additional discounts.
