Pirates-Cubs delayed after fan takes scary blow to the head

During a Monday evening game between the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Starlin Castro took a cut at an A.J. Burnett pitch and got under it, causing the ball to foul off directly behind home plate and hit an unsuspecting fan.

It was terrifying.

The protective net behind home plate caught the ball, but it was too loose and flexed far enough for the ball to strike the woman in the back of the head.

The game was halted for 22 minutes while physicians tended to her, and in the end she was carted off on a stretcher.
