Genie Bouchard received scrutiny from chair umpire for wearing a black bra at Wimbledon

Correction: A previous version of this post said Genie Bouchard was issued a violation. That was incorrect.

Wimbledon, the purveyors of all things good taste, is infamous for enforcing its strict, colorless dress codes, like in 2013 when it banned Roger Federer from wearing tennis shoes with an orange sole. (Something I still contend was a brilliant marketing ploy by Nike.)

But the All England Club nearly took it to new levels on Tuesday when a chair umpire phoned the referee’s office to see if there was an issue with the black sports bra that 2014 finalist Genie Bouchard was wearing underneath her white sports bra. The referee’s office, thankfully, said there was not a violation.

There it is. That’s it. Barely a centimeter of misaligned straps.
