New York City department stores already have insane Christmas decorations

Macy's is one of several New York City department stores with lavish holiday windows.

It's the most wonderful time of the year for retail window displays.

This year, New York City department stores have already unveiled some extravagant Christmas showcases complete with light shows, an interactive piano, ice sculptures and tributes to Paris. Here are some of the most impressive windows already on view, in no particular order:

1. Saks Fifth Avenue

Unveiled with an elaborate display of fireworks, lights in the shape of a castle and a choir, the Saks window displays show the "Winter Wonders of the World." Including, yes, the Eiffel Tower.

2. Macy's

Snoopy and the gang is having a big year: While The Peanuts Movie is in theaters, Charlie Brown is trying to discover the meaning of Christmas in the windows of Macy's. Schroeder's interactive piano is a part of the fun.

3. Bergdorf Goodman

The Bergdorf display, called "Brilliant Holiday" and complete with millions of Swarovski crystals, is not subtle... except for its thoughtful tribute to victims of the Paris attacks. As NY Daily News reports, it has a tiny window with the words "In solidarity" beside a picture of the Eiffel Tower.

4. Barneys

Why is Barneys' holiday display called "Chillin' Out"? Because it has real ice sculptures on view! There are ice carvers, crystal-encrusted Lexus models, and Dale Chihuly-designed icicles in the windows.
