C.J. McCollum spins Dirk Nowitzki like a top, leaves him in No Man's Land, drains three

The Portland Trail Blazers carried a 52-50 lead over the Dallas Mavericks into the locker room at halftime on Tuesday night, thanks in no small part to C.J. McCollum doing Dirk Nowitzki absolutely filthy in the waning minutes of the second quarter.

McCollum caught the ball and had the good fortune of having someone much bigger and slower than him on the mismatch in the corner. The Blazers guard placed Nowitzki neatly in the washing machine, paused to decide between setting the dial on “Permanent Press” and “Heavy Wash,” chose the latter, and then sunk the three.

Update: On Wednesday, Nowitzki had the perfect response. Because after all, at his age, you don’t really sweat the small stuff anymore.
