The Flyers' top line just got quite a bit richer.

Right wing Jake Voracek signed an eight-year extension Thursday, which will net him just about as much money as his center, Claude Giroux. Voracek's deal is worth $66 million, according to multiple reports, while the eight-year pact Giroux signed two years ago is worth $200,000 more.

Voracek is coming off his best NHL season, obliterating his previous career high with 81 points. He was in the scoring race nearly all season before falling six points shy of Dallas' Jamie Benn.

Acquired June 23, 2011 from Columbus, Voracek has realized his potential as a Flyer that many hoped he would as a Blue Jacket. The Czech Republic native is entering his eighth NHL season and was recently the captain of the Czech Republic team in the IIHF World Championships a couple months ago.

"I can't even explain it," Voracek told the Flyers' website. "Those moments in hockey...they are something that you will never forget. When you think about the Olympics, the World Championships at home, even the playoff series with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2012 - those hockey moments stay in your memory forever. It's been unreal and hopefully there will be more and more of those memories."

More to come...
