Watch Jay Wright's non-reaction to buzzer-beater

HOUSTON — The saying goes, act like you've been there before.

Villanova coach Jay Wright watches as the Kris Jenkins shot goes up.

Villanova coach Jay Wright took that advice to heart on Monday night in the NCAA championship game at NRG Stadium. Even though he hadn't, actually, been there before.

When Kris Jenkins' jumper at the buzzer settled cleanly in the cotton (or nylon), it secured a Wildcats victory against North Carolina and the school's second national title (Wright's first). It also set off a raucous celebration, except for Wright, who reacted as if he was watching paint dry.

Talk about being a cool customer.

“I can’t wait to see that look (on my face), because I was just shocked," Wright said. "They did it. Ryan Arcidiacono made a great look. Kris Jenkins has been incredible all year."

“I always say, ‘Bang!’ in my head whenever we take a shot,” Wright told USA TODAY Sports' Nicole Auerbach hours later. “I can’t believe I actually said it out loud.”OK, so Wright actually wasn't totally emotionless, after all. He did let slip the word "Bang" as Jenkins let fly.
