TV tonight: 'Unsung,' 'Hot in Cleveland'

Unsung
TV One, 8 ET/PT

This musical history series returns for a new season with its take on one of the industry's more controversial talents: Ike Turner. There's no question Turner was an influential musician, on his own and as the man who helped turn a young singer named Anna Mae Bullock into Tina Turner. For many people, however, particularly those who only know Turner through the film What's Love Got To Do With It, he's better known as an abusive and drug-addicted husband — leaving Unsung with a fine line to walk and leaving us to ponder yet again whether we're willing to celebrate great artists who turn out to be less than great people.

Modern Family
ABC, 9 ET/PT

You'll find some very funny adult guest stars in this Modern repeat, including Fred Willard, Steve Zahn and Andrea Anders. But if you're like me, you may find yourself laughing equally hard at one very young regular: Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, whose Lily turns out to be the worst clown ever.

Hot in Cleveland
TV Land, 10 ET/PT

As this TV Land sitcom ends its six-season run tonight, let's pause to congratulate Betty White, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli and their classic-sitcom guests for proving once again that age is not some magical eraser of comic gifts. In this demo-obsessed TV age, let's hope that's a lesson learned.
