Amy Schumer spoons with a gun in 'SNL' parody PSA

In a fake PSA, Saturday Night Live joked about America's obsession with guns.

Guns are there. In little moments and big ones. When things fall apart, or it all comes together... wherever life takes you.

The ad, which featured host Amy Schumer, showed intimate moments -- like a grandfather with his grandson, a woman about to give birth, a boyfriend giving his girlfriend a gift-- that ended up revolving around revolvers. We learn that the grandfather was passing down his gun, the new parents gave their newborn a small gun and the boyfriend giftwrapped a gun for his girlfriend (Schumer, who later cuddles with it).

A week after the Oregon mass shootings, the sketch served as a funny-because-it's-true reminder that guns are so prevalent in this country. The ad goes:

There are things we all share. Love. Family. Connection. A sense of purpose. And also: Guns. Guns are there.

SNL also commented about gun control on Weekend Update, where Michael Che and Colin Jost compared the ease of getting a gun to getting herpes:

Aside from the gun talk, one of the most notable parts of SNL was Schumer's opening monologue, where she talked about "dating" Bradley Cooper, meeting Hillary Clinton and complained about how the Kardashians are poor role models for girls.

"Whenever there’s a group of women, you identify with one of them…but then Khloe, she lost half her body weight. She lost a Kendall! We have nothing. I want good role models.”
