Daily deals service Groupon unveiled a food takeout and delivery service launching today in Chicago and expanding in other cities throughout the year.

In this Sept. 22, 2011 file photo, the Groupon logo etched in glass is shown in the lobby of the online coupon company's Chicago offices.

Groupon to Go will also be available this fall in Austin and Boston before moving to additional cities, the company said in a statement released Thursday.

Restaurant chains including Popeyes and Subway are participating as well as some local Chicago businesses. More than 500 eateries participated in a pilot program since March.

Groupon says users of the delivery service will receive instant discounts for orders. The company says it will add new features soon, including real-time order tracking, group ordering and the ability to schedule delivery and takeout for another date and time.

The service leverages Groupon's acquisition of mobile food ordering service Order Up earlier this month.
