The national anthem is a notoriously difficult song to sing, especially in a situation as high-pressure as the Super Bowl. But by every measure, Lady Gaga knocked it out of the park on Sunday.

Draped in a sparkling red suit with matching eye shadow (many viewers thought she looked like a Hunger Games character), Gaga started slow before gradually picking up the pace, culminating in a beautiful crescendo that she was never in danger of overdoing.

And for all you degenerates out there betting on the 2:20 over-under for the National Anthem: By my (very unofficial) count, the extra note she added on the end of the final line inched her just over the allotted time.
