Tiger Stadium will be mostly empty for the LSU-South Carolina game

Looks like nobody is going to the LSU-South Carolina game at Tiger Stadium this weekend.

The game was supposed to be in Columbia, S.C., but with devastating floods still impacting South Carolina, the university announced Wednesday that after “consultation with state and local officials, law enforcement, the SEC and LSU” the game would be played in Baton Rouge. It’s still technically considered a Gamecocks home game, however.

Unfortunately — for both teams — the short notice didn’t give fans much time to buy tickets. According to LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, only 38,000 have been sold for the 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (ESPN). He told a local radio station in Baton Rouge he expected at least 50,000 to be sold. Tiger Stadium seats 102,321 at capacity.

According to The Advocate, LSU sold 30,000 tickets during a period of time when only season ticket holders and students were allowed to buy them.

There are 73,000 season ticket holders. About 6,000 students bought tickets during that time period. The school has sold less than 10,000 general admission tickets since they went on sale at 6 p.m. Thursday.

LSU will close the south end zone upper deck and the east side upper deck.

This will be a very un-Death Valley environment for sure.
