The Chicago Bears released Ray McDonald following his arrest Monday on charges of domestic violence and child endangerment. McDonald was also arrested following a separate incident in 2014 while he was member of the 49ers. The Bears signed McDonald to a one-year deal in March, and at the time general manager Ryan Pace said the team was “thorough” in its evaluation of McDonald’s off-the-field behavior.
In a statement released Monday, Pace said that McDonald did not meet the Bears’ “standard.”
Bears guard Kyle Long tweeted this shortly after the Bears released McDonald.
