Last year, Thompson set a new world record for women over 90 years old with a time of 7:07. Thompson, a cancer survivor herself, has raised more than $100,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by running in marathons, according to the Washington Post. Thompson didn’t think she would finish Sunday, but she never gave up.

“I’m just going to walk real fast and then run some, and just try not to wear myself down too fast. It’ll be sort of interesting. I’ll be the most surprised person if I finish it. I hope I will!”
