Sylvia Day and Kimberly Lang at Saturday's Heart of Dixie book signing in Huntsville, Ala.

Saturday I attended the 18th annual Heart of Dixie book signing in Huntsville, Ala. The event, hosted by the Heart of Dixie chapter of Romance Writers of America, featured amazing authors, including Sylvia Day, Linda Howard and Jennifer Estep. It was a fantastic and fun local event that was jam-packed with hopeful authors, fanatic readers and lovers of all things books. Plus, it raised money for charity!

The details, from Heart of Dixie luncheon co-chair Kimberly Lang:

As part of the annual Heart of Dixie luncheon, 23 local, regional, bestselling and award-winning authors participated in a book signing that was open to the public as well as the luncheon attendees. Heart of Dixie donates the profits of the sales to local organizations to help promote literacy. Past recipients include several local libraries, the Huntsville Adult Learning Center and the MotherRead program. Mayor Battle's Book Club will receive the funds this year.

According to its website, Mayor Battle's Book Club is aimed at strengthening childhood literacy and provides thousands of Huntsville elementary students with books to take home and keep.

Check with your local RWA chapter for future events, signings and luncheons!
