PITTSBURGH, PA – OCTOBER 01: Josh Scobee #8 of the Pittsburgh Steelers reacts after missing a field goal in the second half of the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

After missing five kicks in his first 17 attempts with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including a pair of fourth-quarter misses in a 23-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Josh Scobee’s time in Pittsburgh has come to an end.  The Steelers have signed Chris Boswell, the fourth kicker they’ve rostered since late July, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.

Scobee was released to make room for Boswell.

The Steelers traded a sixth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in August after K Garrett Hartley suffered an injury in the preseason.  Hartley was signed after incumbent K Shaun Suisham suffered a torn ACL in Pittsburgh’s Hall of Fame game loss to the the Vikings.

Boswell, a former Rice University standout, was undrafted in 2014 but spent him with both the Texans and Giants.  The Steelers were paying Scobee $2.5 million salary and had reportedly offered him an additional year after the traded.  Former CB Brice McCain signed with the Dolphins this offseason for $2.5 million a season.  The Steelers chose not to match that offer.
