'My Little Pony' rides again at Comic-Con

Comic-Con attendees can get a special Twilight Sparkle doll from the "My Little Pony Equestria Girls" franchise.

Cosplay is really big at San Diego Comic-Con, and even the colorful characters of My Little Pony are getting in on that action.

Hasbro is offering two Pony toy exclusives to fans attending next week's pop-culture fest (July 8-12), including a figure of Pinkie Pie ($49.99) dressed up as a chicken for Nightmare Night, Halloween-esque holiday in Ponyville. (It's in celebration of the legends of Nightmare Moon, of course.) She comes with her own fluffy chicken outfit, gold beak and treat bag.

In addition to its horses, My Little Pony's Equestria Girls brand reimagines the Pony players as teenage girls, and the second Hasbro exclusive is a special edition Twilight Sparkle ($34.99) in her Crystal Prep school gear. Clad in a lab coat, the doll is packaged with a locker bookshelf, her loyal dog Spike and a necklace that unlocks science-y fashions and other bonus features in the Equestria Girls app.

This new Twilight Sparkle also appears in the upcoming animated film My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games (airing Sept. 26 on Discovery Family) — USA TODAY debuts here the exclusive trailer for the movie, which pits the teens of Crystal Prep against those from Canterlot High.

After Comic-Con, a limited number of the Pony exclusives will be available for purchase at HasbroToyShop.com.

Pinkie Pie looks clucking good in her chicken-fried Comic-Con packaging.
