Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor will play Friday night against the Houston Rockets, the rookie’s first game since he was involved in an alleged assault caught on video, according to a published report.

The 76ers and the NBA are investigating an alleged assault by the rookie center Jahlil Okafor that was caught on tape.

Okafor, 19, got into an altercation outside a Boston nightclub early Thursday morning, and footage of the incident was obtained by TMZ.com. The footage shows him shouting at several people — using a racial slur at one point — and then throwing one man to the ground. Okafor then punched the same man.

The Sixers will face the Rockets in Houston, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. ET. The 76ers did not immediately return messages left by USA TODAY Sports.

“It was definitely dumb on my part,” Okafor told The Philadelphia Inquirer.  “It’s something that I am embarrassed about. I’m not happy about it at all. But we are still going to through the process of what we are going to do.”

Both the 76ers and the NBA said in statements that they were aware of the altercation and were investigating the incident.

Jahlil Okafor Involved in Boston Street Fight Following Sixers Loss

Earlier Friday, Boston police officer James Kenneally told The Associated Press said no charges would be filed unless the victim of the alleged assault came forward and no investigation was planned. Police responded to reports of a fight outside the nightclub, hours after the 76ers lost to the Boston Celtics Wednesday night.
