The wrestling world remembers Rowdy Roddy Piper

Wrestling legend Rowdy Roddy Piper died at the age of 61 Thursday, after suffering a heart attack. Roderick George Toombs started wrestling as a teenager, and after joining the WWE in 1984 went on to main event WrestleMania I. Piper never won the WWE title, but was one of the most popular wrestlers in the business for decades and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

In 2006 the WWE announced that he was battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but returned to part-time work with the WWE and even made an appearance at WrestleMania 31 earlier this year as one of the best Intercontinental Champions of all time.
