Hillary Clinton given clean bill of health
Hillary Clinton is "in excellent physical condition and fit to serve as President of the United States," according to her doctor in a letter released Friday.
The letter from physician Lisa Bardack describes Clinton as a "healthy 67-year-old female whose current medical conditions include hypothyroidism and seasonal pollen allergies."
Bardack's assessment recounts a December 2012 episode when Clinton, who was still serving as secretary of State at the time, fell ill with a stomach virus and suffered a concussion after fainting.
Evaluations after the incident revealed Clinton had transverse sinus venous thrombosis, a blood clot. She also experienced double vision. A test in 2013 found that all symptoms related to the concussion had been resolved, the letter states, including "total dissolution of the thrombosis." However, she was advised "as a precaution," to continue anticoagulation medication daily.
The letter also describes aspects of her family medical history and notes "she does not smoke and drinks alcohol occasionally" and "exercises regularly."
