Mets fan Jerry Seinfeld made a Festivus joke to welcome Yoenis Cespedes

Jerry Seinfeld is chock-full of jokes — even when it comes to Major League Baseball.

The comedian (and New York Mets fan) sent out a welcome tweet to Yoenis Cespedes after the team acquired him from the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

Of course, Seinfeld was referencing a line from the Seinfeld episode “The Strike,” in which George’s father created a winter holiday called “Festivus” to replace Christmas.

So, the joke makes sense, except “Cespedes for the rest of us” doesn’t quite rhyme like “Festivus for the rest of us.” Points for effort, though.
