Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell has been hospitalized, according to an announcement on her official website.

Mitchell, 71, a native of Canada, was found unconscious on her bathroom floor and taken to a hospital in Los Angeles, according to ConsequenceofSound.net website.

A statement on Mitchell's website on Tuesday night said the singer-songwriter regained consciousness on the ambulance ride to the hospital.

"She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits," the statement said. "Light a candle and sing a song, let's all send good wishes her way."

Los Angeles fire officials said paramedics answered an a 911 call in Bel Air, where Mitchell lives, in the afternoon and took a patient to the hospital, but could not verify her identity or give details on her condition, the Associated Press reported.

The nature of Mitchell's illness was not immediately clear. In December, she told Billboard magazine that she had Morgellons Disease, a debilitating skin condition that has left her unable to perform.

Mitchell released the album Live at the Second Fret 1966 in October last year.
