Cheryl Burke dumps Trump, too

Cheryl Burke will no longer serve as the co-host of the Miss USA pageant, she said Tuesday.

Hollywood can't get away from Donald Trump fast enough.

NBC dumped Trump on Monday, citing the newly announced presidential candidate's offensive comments on Mexican immigrants. In primetime talk, that means they will no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which Trump partly owns. Trump will also no longer be participating in The Apprentice, the network confirmed.

Now, Miss USA co-host Cheryl Burke says she's out, too.

"In light of the recent statements made by Donald Trump and the subsequent decision by NBC to cut ties with Mr. Trump, I cannot in good conscience move forward with participating in this year's Miss USA Pageant as its co-host," Burke tells USA TODAY in a statement. "Effective today I have withdrawn from my duties with Miss USA. Although I will not be there in person, I wish all of the contestants much luck as I know how hard they've all been working over the last year to try and realize their dreams."

Meanwhile Ora TV, a television company backed by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim said it was scrapping a project in development with the outspoken mogul. Ora TV produces Larry King Now and Off the Grid with Jesse Ventura.

Mexico separately announced it won't be sending a contestant to the Miss Universe contest.

NBC came under pressure to fire Trump since last week when Univision announced it would not participate in airing Trump's Miss USA pageant simulcast, saying in a statement that "respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values." Mexican media giant Univisa severed ties with the real estate mogul, too.

"Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump," said NBC in a statement. The network announced it will air American Ninja Warrior's USA vs. the World Competition in its Miss USA slot.

Burke's the third co-host to drop out of Miss USA: Roselyn Sanchez and Cristian de la Fuente, co-hosts of the Univision telecast, also said they wouldn't take part.

During his presidential announcement, Trump made several inflammatory remarks about Mexican immigrants and U.S. border policy. "When Mexico sends its people," he said, "they're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

On Tuesday, the 2015 Miss USA pageant announced it will still crown a new winner on July 12th.
