You are now an official USA TODAY Ad Meter panelist. You'll take part in a tradition spanning more than three decades, rating the best commercials of the Big Game. We'll send you reminders to make sure you don't miss out. Remember, you'll need to rate ALL the ads by Sunday night for your votes to count, so be ready on game day!
We’ve already reviewed all 26 Ad Meter-winning Super Bowl commercials. Now it’s time to focus on the cream of the crop. The 10 highest-rated spots in the history of the competition are similar in one way: Every last one is funny. (Or at least attempting to be funny.)
All but three _ “Pepsi vs. Coke drivers in diner,” “Frozen Tundra” and “Chevy Chase gets fired from ad” _ finished first in the Ad Meter. (Those three placed second.) As you can see below, Pepsi’s ads from the 1990s were incredibly well-received. Six are on this list.
So without further ado, here’s the top 10:
1. 1995: Pepsi, “Boy gets sucked into Pepsi bottle” (9.66 Ad Meter rating)
2. 1996: Pepsi, “Coke driver nabs Pepsi” (9.42)
3. 1995: Pepsi, “Pepsi vs. Coke drivers in diner” (9.41)
