Reality star Kim Richards is accused of shoplifting at Target.

Things got real for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards, who was arrested Sunday night for shoplifting.

Officer Matthew Ludwig of the Van Nuys, Calif., police department tells USA TODAY that Richards was placed under "private person’s arrest" after being suspected of taking and failing to pay for toys and other merchandise valued at more than $600 from a local Target.

A Target loss prevention officer arrested Richards at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday and she was taken to Van Nuys Jail at 7:29 p.m. where she spent the night before being released on Monday afternoon after posting $5,000 bail.

The alleged shoplifting is not Richards' first run-in with the law. She was arrested this spring after a drunken confrontation with hotel security and police at the Beverly Hills Hotel and she has been vocal about her struggles with substance abuse. Ludwig was unable to confirm whether the incident at Target was related to drug or alcohol abuse.

Richards' shoplifting case is being submitted to the city’s attorney’s office for filing.
